TROY is strong in the field of engineering and design of collection systems for air streams containing high-temperature condensibles. Why is this noteworthy?
Hydrocarbons must be kept in aerosol form. Because of this, equipment components (ducting, expansion joints, supports, etc.) located down stream of process exhaust sources must be designed to maintain the required temperature range that prevents hydrocarbons from condensing. If they were to condense, the system would be immediately vulnerable to failure.
How? When solvents in aerosol form condense, they become a pool of liquid solvent. In this state, solvents are an immediate fire hazard and a potential source of leakage at joints. If the compounds are halogenated, in liquid form they are highly corrosive to all materials of construction.
If the solvents contain phenolics, they harden to a glass-like substance creating a permanent fire hazard as well as blockage. Blockages cause higher duct velocities that lead to increases in pressure drop. Increases in pressure drop will render your already purchased and installed air movement system inadequate.
The fixes required to correct the mismanagement of condensable air streams are very expensive. Eliminate unnecessary fix-it costs. Reduce your risks.
